Directed Electronics 489V Security Viper Responder Remote

Folks, if you buy from this seller know that you will be getting a replacement 7341V NOT the 489V that is advertised. Also I would read their return / refund policy.

I have had mine for about 3 years and finally had to purchase another remote due to it breaking open from the bottom. It would not snap back together. I thought about using super glue, but why should we have to resort to that after paying good money for it.

Note: I was informed this series of alarm and remote are no longer being made, therefore, if you need another remote in the future, you will not be able to purchase one and will have to purchase a whole alarm system.

I purchased a viper in 2005. For the most part, the system works great, however the key chains are HORRENDOUS!! For something that costs between $75-110, I would expect for it to be made with something other than cheap plastic.

Long story short, they only last about a year before you have to buy another one. The "gloss" wears off after about 1-2 months. After about a year the casing flat out splits open. I am now on my 3rd one, and just returned from the store with some krazy glue. Hopefully the glue will give me another month or two. I will NEVER purchase anything from Viper again.
