1.0 out of 5 stars Nice features...If only they worked right., June 9, 2009

This review is from: Astra ASTRA600 6-Relay Car Alarm with 5-Button Remote (Automotive)
I bought this alarm because it had exactly the features I was looking for at a reasonable price. The installation was very passive, without all the annoying alarms that ask a passerby to step back, or huge lcd readout on the keychain.

The first problem was that the trunk would randomly pop when the alarm was turned off. Not all the time, but enough that it required checking every time the doors were unlocked. Then the door locking became unreliable.

For the install time and frustration in use, this rate very poorly with me.

not only was this very cheap compared to ones like it.. but it doenst look cheap at all. the remotes are very awesome (they have blue LED's and are just awesome). the doors unlock/lock gave me some trouble, but it was becuase i thought my locks were one thing, but were a differnt system.. otherwise its worth the money, i think it is alot better then the stock car alarms that come with cars. also the range on the wireless remotes is way more then 400FT .. i can hit the door unlocks and alarm button from way over 700 feet..

3.0 out of 5 stars A mediocre alarm made by a mediocre alarm maker, December 14, 2007

When I first obtained this alarm, it immediately went off. There I was, middle of a parking lot, and this damn car alarm is going through the noise cycles. You know, in case you somehow missed the first loud "wheee oooohh whooo oohhhh" pattern, there's 5 other equally annoying patterns that follow. But the noise is just like every other car alarm out there, so nobody pays attention except to demonstrate a smug look of annoyance.

Anyone who actually does pay attention, besides, you know, the owner of the car, is easily dissuaded by my lying that I've "locked my keys in the car". Heck, I've had people see me picking a door who have then come over to help. Sometimes I wish I could drive away and say "hey guess what you've just been an accessory to!" but I don't say that, and they don't seem to ever notice that there really isn't a set of keys in the car.

In any case, as far as I'm concerned this alarm is fantastic. I mean, I wouldn't put it on my own car, but...Read more
